I for Irresistible Innsbruck

Tyrolean-Grostl

When you’re a small city surrounded by the Alps, you can’t help but be amazing. Innsbruck has definitely left me a massive impression, and when it comes to food, it certainly has a way to spoil you.

I have this bad habit of saying OH SO GOOD really loud when I encounter irresistible, delicious food. My friends hate it when I say that as they say it makes me less lady-like (haha!) but they also know that when I say that the food must be good. I have three favourite things that I love from this beautiful city.

First up is the Tyrolean Grostl, this one definitely deserves a big OH SO GOOD! What’s not to love with this dish – it has potatoes and pork with some herbs cooked together topped with a big egg. It’s the perfect dish for winter but with all the deliciousness inside, the dish is pretty eateable in any season.

Second, is a dessert. If you have sweet tooth just like me and happens to be in Austria then you’d be damned if you didn’t try Sacher Torte. It is one of the most delicious dessert I have ever tasted. The cake is found everywhere, but the original one is found at Cafe Sacher and you will be begging for another bite.

Last but not least, when you go up the Alps, look out for some home-like restaurants. They usually serve home-made food which is just OH SO GOOD, but mostly they have the most amazing Gluhwein which is hot wine. I tasted some hot wine sold in streets, and the ones they have up in the Alps in Innsbruck was just absolutely addicting. Don’t drink too much though, you might get drunk without even realizing!

Snow and hot wine is the perfect combination

Ever been to Innsbruck? What’s your favourite things to eat there?

I love Innsbruck too and found the food to be wonderful although I enjoyed a more savory menu! Mac and Cheese, schnitzel and goulash soup are some of my favorites!

    1. Hi Debbie,
My friend tried goulash soup, it was also delicious. I couldn’t stop myself from eating while I was in Innsbruck. Such an amazing place!

  2. just passed innsbruck for a lot of times but never had the chance to visit the city center..can’t say no to these foods you got here..lolz!

    1. Visiting the city centre of Innsbruck is a must..there’s just so much to see there!

  3. Whenever I eat something good, I have this embarrassing habit of doing a little dance in my chair. I didn’t even know I did it until an ex-boyfriend pointed it out in college. Still do it though, still embarrassing. I’d love to get to Austria one day (I tried Kaiserschmarrn this summer and LOVED it) so I imagine I’ll be doing the dance there too.

    1. Hi Edna! I had to laugh out loud reading your comment. I have to see that little dance (youtube it maybe :P)!! I do think great food deserves great reaction though so high five to both of us 🙂
I just love Innsbruck, you should drop by when you can, especially in the winter – absolutely stunning!

  7. What in the WORLD can be bad about saying “OH SO GOOD!!!”?? I don’t get that. My dad always tells me that I’m still displaying joy at anything in the same way that I did it when I was 4 years old. I have no intention of changing that. Getting excited about stuff – like delicious food – is awesome!! And now I want some Sachertorte! xx

    1. Haha! I have no intention of getting rid off my habit either! I think by now my friends also agree that they can’t make me either. I know right, food should be appreciated, delicious food especially! Good that you’re on me 😉
