As 2016 comes to an end, I don’t have any particular places that I want to visit next year. Usually I would have a list, at least on my mind, of new places to visit or old places to revisit. However, the last two and a half years for me have been extremely challenging. I have been fighting cancer, lymphoma to be exact. Due to some complications, my muscles weaken during this time too. This meant I had to learn to walk all over again. I had to learn a lot of things all over again.
It was devastating for me. It was so hard for me to walk and I loved walking! I used to walk everywhere.
Earlier this year, my muscles started to loosen up, enabling me to walk better but still not perfect. I would have a back pain whenever I walked too much. This year I managed to sneak a trip to Singapore. I could only manage to go to a few places, but I felt stronger. I still had to be assisted and couldn’t wander off by myself, but it was something I was OK with.
Right now, I feel so much better. I still have the back pain, my muscles are still sore here and there but it is getting better! I am happy with the progress I’m making. I am still in recovery from a treatment, but I see a light at the end of the tunnel, unlike before, when it was pitch dark.
So if you ask me, what’s your travel wishlist for next year? Where do you wanna go next year? I have no particular answer for you.
I just want to travel somewhere. Maybe it won’t be a new country, maybe it won’t be a new city, maybe it will only just be the city next door or again to Singapore. I don’t care. I just want to travel without feeling that piercing pain in my back, I want to travel without thinking about doing chemo next week. I just want to go somewhere and enjoy myself.
I am continually exercising to get myself into shape. I am following all the rules from my doctor. Let’s hope that my efforts pay off.
I wish you all a wonderful new year and a joyful holiday!
